Privacy

How rontime handles subscriber, comment, media, and analytics data.

What is collected

Newsletter email addresses are encrypted at rest. A one-way hash supports duplicate prevention. Comment email addresses are encrypted and never published. Coarse, rotating IP hashes are retained for abuse prevention.

Article feedback and browser storage

Voting creates a random identifier in your browser storage so you can change or withdraw your feedback. The database stores an article-specific one-way HMAC of that identifier, your vote, an update timestamp, and a rotating IP HMAC for abuse prevention. It does not store the raw identifier or IP address. Withdrawing a vote removes it from the totals but retains a zero-vote record for duplicate prevention. This is anonymous browser feedback, not verified person-level voting.

You can clear browser storage to remove the local identifier, but will then lose the ability to manage earlier votes from that browser. Your light/dark theme preference is also stored locally. Sharing opens your device’s share sheet or copies the article link; it creates no feedback record.

Analytics

Vercel Web Analytics is used for privacy-oriented aggregate traffic measurement. Raw visitor IP addresses are not stored in the rontime application database.
